Common questions

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. Your 14-day free trial starts the moment you sign up. No card needed until you decide to keep it. If you don't subscribe before the trial ends, your account is locked (not deleted) and you can reactivate any time.

What happens after my trial ends?

You'll get an email reminder a few days before the trial ends. If you'd like to keep access, subscribe for $25/month. If not, your account pauses — you can reactivate later without losing any data.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. Go to Billing in your dashboard and cancel in under a minute. No phone calls, no cancellation fees, no questions asked. Your access continues through the end of your paid period.

What about online payments? Is there a fee?

Job Assistant doesn't charge a fee on payments. Stripe (our payment processor) charges their standard rate — typically 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction. You pass that through to customers or absorb it yourself.

Is my payment information secure?

Yes. Card processing is handled entirely by Stripe — the same platform used by Amazon, Shopify, and Lyft. We never see or store your card number. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified — the highest level of payment security.

Can I use this for a team, or is it just for solo contractors?

Both. The Solo plan is built for independent contractors working alone. The General Contractor plan ($55/month) adds full crew management — subcontractor profiles, per-job pay tracking, a subcontractor portal, photo submissions, advanced job-costing books, and a QuickBooks-friendly export. Upgrade any time from your billing page.

Will my data be deleted if I cancel?

No — your data is retained for 30 days after cancellation. If you reactivate within 30 days, everything is right where you left it. After 30 days it is permanently removed.

I'm not a tech person. Is this hard to learn?

If you can send a text message, you can use Job Assistant. It's designed to be used one-handed on a phone, on a job site, with gloves on. No tutorials, no onboarding calls, no manuals needed.
